My name is Brian Wheeler. I volunteered in Nairobi Kenya, with the National Organization of Peer Educators (NOPE) in Nairobi Kenya with my wife Helvi and 2 of my 3 children Berhane and Ndamona. We were in Nairobi for 18 months. That journey was facilitated by CUSO VSO in Canada and VSO Jitolee in Nairobi Kenya. Prior to coming to Kenya, I was employed at Columbus State Community College for 8 years in Columbus Ohio, as a Prison Program Coordinator and Financial Aid Specialist respectively.
Now we are in Windhoek Namibia – more on this adventure soon. People are correct when they say – when your reach Mama Africa, you feel at home…!
I graduated from Wilberforce University with a Bachelors of Science in Communication and the University of Connecticut with a Masters of Professional Studies in Humanitarian Services Administration….and maybe just maybe I mightgo back to school to study something else! Hopefully this Blog will be successful in documenting our experiences in Africa!!
